About Us

The Muziki Haven Center

Muziki Haven is a nonprofit music school founded with a simple yet powerful vision: to bring the gift of music education to refugees and underserved communities who often face barriers to artistic and personal growth. Located in the heart of the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, we are a growing community of passionate learners, teachers, and volunteers who believe in the power of music to heal, uplift, and transform lives.

What started as a small initiative in 2021 has now become a safe and creative space for young people and adults to explore their musical talents. We offer lessons in piano, guitar, bass, drums, voice, and music theory made possible through our partnership with Musora, the world-renowned team behind Pianote, Drumeo, Guitareo, and Singeo. Their generosity allows us to use world-class online music content to train and inspire our students.

Meet the Founder

I’m Goshen Mulamba. My journey with music began in the heart of a refugee camp, a place where opportunities are scarce, but hope still finds a way to sing. As a Congolese refugee living in Malawi, I discovered early on that music had the power to heal, connect, and inspire.

Thanks to a generous scholarship, I had the opportunity to study Music Theory online at the University of Edinburgh, and later received another life-changing scholarship to continue my practice and training through the Berklee College of Music. These experiences opened my eyes and ears to a world of knowledge I never thought I’d have access to.

But I also knew that I wasn’t alone, many in my community shared the same passion for music but lacked access to learning tools and support. That’s why I founded Muziki Haven to share the knowledge and resources I was given, and to empower others through the gift of music.

At Muziki Haven, we provide free music lessons to fellow refugees and local youth using a mix of hands-on practice and online platforms like Musora. We’ve seen students who had never touched an instrument now confidently playing and dreaming big.

Limited Internet Access Our programs, offered through Musora, require stable internet connectivity. However, access is limited, and costs can reach up to $200 per month. This restricts learners’ ability to engage consistently with online content, hindering their educational progress.

Insufficient Computing Devices There’s a shortage of computers available for learners. Limited access to devices slows down the learning process, as students cannot practice or participate in e-learning modules effectively.

Inadequate Musical Instruments: The number of musical instruments is insufficient for the learners. Students are unable to practice as much as needed, which hampers skill development and slows their learning trajectory.

Our Core Values

🎵 Inclusivity
We believe music is for everyone regardless of background, nationality, or circumstance. Our doors are open to all who seek to learn and grow.
🎵 Empowerment
We equip our students with the skills, confidence, and courage to express themselves and pursue their dreams—on and off the stage.
🎵 Community
We foster a spirit of togetherness where students, volunteers, and partners collaborate, support, and uplift one another.

Our Philosophy

At Muziki Haven, we believe that music is not just an art—it’s a universal language of healing, expression, and empowerment. Our philosophy is rooted in the idea that every person, no matter their background or circumstances, has the potential to grow, create, and inspire through music.
